Antique Victorian Boxwood Stamp Box Carved Carrier Pigeon Letter Treen 1865 MINT:
$95.00

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿MADE IN />

Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic Victorian-era hand-carved boxwood stamp box, dating to circa 1865. This exquisite piece of English desktop treen features an incredibly detailed relief carving on the lid depicting a carrier pigeon in mid-flight holding a sealed letter in its beak.

The pigeon is framed within a smooth, recessed oval surrounded by elegant Victorian foliate scrollwork. The sides of the box are intricately decorated with geometric chip-carved diaper patterns.

The interior reveals a pristine, sloped stamp ramp on the right side—a classic 19th-century design element meant to allow the user to easily slide out paper postage stamps. The box retains a wonderful, warm honey-colored natural patina and its original brass barrel hinge.

An exceptional, pocket-sized piece for collectors of antique boxes, postal history, or Victorian desk accessories.
