Victorian Jack-in-the-Pulpit Epergne Replacement Vase — Attributed English Glasshouse
This stunning Jack-in-the-Pulpit vase is a replacement vase for a Victorian-era epergne, dating to the latter part of the 19th century.
The vase is blown from crystal-clear glass, beautifully accented with flowing ribbons of opaque pink and opal white. The combination of colors creates a striking and elegant appearance characteristic of late Victorian art glass.
The rim is hand-tooled, with the distinctive Jack-in-the-Pulpit form created by carefully crimping the glass into its stylized flared shape. The opposite end of the tapered vase has been ground and polished, allowing it to fit securely into the epergne assembly.
The vase is not marked and is attributed to an English glasshouse. The decorative technique and coloration are sometimes referred to by collectors as “Cleveland” glass.

Ground and polished end: approximately 5/8"–3/4" overall condition.
The rim is free of chips.
There are no hairline cracks or breaks.
There are no stains.
The ground and polished end has a few minor nicks from being held in place, consistent with the manner in which this type of replacement vase would have been fitted into an epergne.
These minor nicks are confined to the ground-and-polished end and do not detract from the overall beauty of the vase.
