On June 24, 1914, a massive, explosive fire broke out in the basement of the five-story brick building on Elm Street in Manchester, New Hampshire. The fire gutted the main storefront and a three-story annex, resulting in a spectacular conflagration fueled by ammunition and gunpowder stored in the sporting goods department.
