Antique Vintage Large 8\" Scrying Crystal Ball Glass Sphere Ornate Metal Stand For Sale

An absolutely striking extra-large crystal/glass ball displayed on an ornate cast metal pedestal stand — a dramatic decorative piece with wonderful optical effects and an impressive scale.

This is a BIG sphere. The ball measures approximately 24\" in circumference, which calculates to approximately 7.7\" in diameter — roughly 7 5/8\" across. With the ball resting on its stand, the entire display measures approximately 9.5\" tall.

For a sense of scale, please see the photograph showing it beside a standard beverage can. This is considerably larger and more substantial than the small decorative crystal balls commonly encountered.

The sphere is beautifully clear and highly polished, with the fascinating optical properties that make large crystal and glass spheres so visually compelling. Viewed from different angles, it magnifies, reverses and dramatically distorts the surrounding room and objects behind it.

Under strong lighting it also produces beautiful rainbow/prismatic flashes around the perimeter, several of which can be seen in the photographs.

Because of its considerable diameter and thickness, the sphere acts almost like a giant spherical lens. The changing reflections and refractions give it a different appearance depending upon lighting, viewing angle and surroundings.

The sphere is being described as a crystal/glass sphere. We have not performed a laboratory or refractive-index test to determine its exact glass or crystal composition and therefore make no claim that it is natural quartz.

The accompanying stand is nearly as attractive as the sphere itself.

It is a substantial ornately cast metal pedestal featuring an elaborate old-world design with:
