Camp Meade Post Office (MD) - Soldier-Inscribed WWIHistory:
An incredible piece of World War I military and postal history featuring adirect message from a soldier stationed at the base camp.
Historic Military Inscription: The back features aclear handwritten message from a soldier serving in the 19th Company, 154thDepot Brigade.
The Note Reads: “Hello Noko, do not forget my partof the mahogany. I'm a soldier Joseph B Taylor 19 Co 154th Depot. Brigade CampMeade MD.” A bittersweet, humorous slice of period military slang("mahogany" referencing a tavern bar top; this expression often used tomean – keep my spot at the pub open or think of me next time you buy a round)paired with an explicitly identified, researchable WWI unit.
