Very interesting vintage/antique Scandinavian-style fixed blade knife with its original decorated sheath.
The knife features a traditional stacked handle constructed from what appears to be birch/figured wood and bone or antler, separated by dark spacers. The sheath is especially attractive, with an aged dark leather upper, hand-tooled star/rosette designs, leather suspension loop, and a fitted wooden lower section featuring a long bone/antler-colored decorative inlay with hand-cut geometric detailing.
The carbon-steel blade shows considerable age, patina, pitting and evidence of sharpening/use.
The construction and decoration are consistent with traditional Finnish/Lapland/Sámi-style puukko knives. Exact maker, country of manufacture and date are unknown. Based on its construction and appearance, it may date to the early-to-mid 20th century or possibly earlier, but I am not representing the age as definitively authenticated.
Knife and sheath are being sold exactly as pictured. I have intentionally not polished, restored or refinished the knife or sheath in order to preserve the existing patina and original character.
