This is a gorgeous and oversized antique lithographed tin decorative charger for wall display. Measuring an impressive 17.5 inches in diameter, this large metal wall plate has a beautiful Edwardian era still life of vibrant purple and lavender violets in a green glass pedestal bowl. It has a soft watercolor style background with shading in muted tones of blues, yellow, greens and greys. It is a high quality chromolithograph that was printed directly onto the tin.
This design has been identified as one of a set of two "flower plaques" offered as a promotional premium by Seattle Brewing & Malting Co., makers of Malt Rainier. An identical example retains advertising on the reverse explaining that customers could collect coupons packaged with bottles of Malt Rainier and mail them to the company to receive the set. The plaques are attributed to the Charles M Shonk Co in Chicago, c.1905 - 1915. This example is unmarked but matches the documented plaque in its artwork, painted back color, rolled metal rim, and hanging construction.
