Antique c.1880 French Church Altar Candlesticks - Pair 26.5" Brass JMJ Pricket:
$650.00

Stunning Matched Pair of Large c.1880 French Baroque Brass Church Altar Candlesticks (26.5”)Up for sale is a magnificent, authentic pair of French ecclesiastical altar candlesticks dating to the late 19th Century (circa 1870–1890). Standing at an impressive and commanding 26.5 inches tall, these monumental historic pieces feature heavy, highly detailed, three-sided tripartite tripod bases. Each side is adorned with classical Baroque scrollwork and an embossed portrait medallion representing the Holy Family (Jesus, Mary, and Joseph), a hallmark of traditional late-1800s French church metalware. The fluted columns draw the eye up to deep, wide bobeche wax pans. At the center of each pan sits the original, hand-forged iron pricket spike (pic-cierge), held securely underneath by its historic hand-cut square iron nut and washer. The heavy, irregular nature of these internal rods points directly to mid-to-late 1800s craftsmanship.Condition Details:
These candlesticks are in excellent structural antique condition for being roughly 140+ years old. They possess a gorgeous, authentic aged patina with beautiful deep-gold and muted-green undertones. We have intentionally left the original patina untouched, as collectors and interior designers heavily prefer this historic look over chemically polished modern brass. The inside of the wax pans show light scratching and minor wax remnants from decades of sacred liturgical use, adding incredible character and provenance to the pair.Perfect as a dramatic statement piece on a mantle, console, or dining table, or as a premier addition to an ecclesiastical antique collection.Shipping & Handling Note:
They will be wrapped individually in professional-grade bubble wrap and securely double-boxed to ensure safe arrival.
