Antiseptic Tonic wooden box from Tyrrell’s Hygienic Institute, New York City, dating approximately to the early 20th century.J.B.L. stood for “Joy, Beauty, Life” and was the trademark used by Charles A. Tyrrell’s Hygienic Institute for its J.B.L. Cascade internal-bath system and related products. The Antiseptic Tonic was sold for use with the system during the patent-medicine era.Small wooden box features the original black “J.B.L. Antiseptic Tonic – Tyrrell’s Hygienic Inst. – New York City, U.S.A.” advertising graphic on the lid.Authentic antique condition with substantial surface wear, discoloration, scratches and staining consistent with age. Interior shows remnants of the original paper labeling. Box is empty and no medicinal product is included.
