This small antique cotton quilt dates to the 1880 to 1910 time period although the floral backing and paisley binding may be older fabric. The pinwheel pattern is hand pieced and the quilt is hand quilted using parallel lines on the diagonal. The length ranges from 28 & 1/4 to 28 & 3/4 inches and the width runs from 19 & 3/8 to 20 inches. The predominant colors are indigo and other blues, pinks, black and white plus a bit of brown. The quilter used a variety of prints including florals, stripes, checks, polka dots and stars. My favorite is the nautical conversation print featuring blue sailboats and red anchors.This quilt was found needing a little TLC so I washed it in Retro Clean and now only one very tiny spot remains (see photo). I cleaned it gently by hand so as not to cause further thinning of the batting (see photo by window). I also made four repairs for you. I used antique cotton from my stash on two spots and have included before and after photos for your inspection. I made two other repairs by covering the small issues with tulle (see more photos). Now you have a charming older quilt all ready to display with antique dolls or to use as a table runner in your primitive farmhouse decor.This quilt will be carefully packed and protected from moisture to ensure that it travels safely and the package will weigh about 11 ounces.
