This is an Art Deco Rosenthal porcelain figure titledAnita, designed by Dorothea Charol (1889–1963) for Rosenthal’s Kunstabteilung (Art Department). The figure depicts dancer Anita Berber in a stylized pose, standing with chin framed by her upturned palms and one leg raised. The elongated proportions, simplified facial modelling, and flowing drapery are characteristic of Weimar period Art Deco design.
The figure is executed in glossy white porcelain and mounted on a stepped octagonal base that is pierced to accommodate flowers.

Dating
The Rosenthal crown and roses mark with D.R.P.a. (“Deutsches Reichs Patent angemeldet”) was used in Imperial Germany and continued into the early 1920s. This figure dates to the early Weimar period and is certainly no later than the mid-1920s.
A strong example of Weimar Art Deco porcelain sculpture and one of Rosenthal’s most recognizable figural designs.
