Up for sale is an incredibly scarce, original piece of 1883 John Stubbe "Plate" 8-point antique barbed wire. This iconic wire was patented on October 23, 1883, featuring large metal shields designed to prevent livestock from running blindly into the fence lines.This wire features an authentic, beautiful farm rust patina. It has not been cleaned, wire-brushed, or oiled, preserving its 140+ year-old historical integrity exactly as collectors prefer.
This wire is offered by the individual 8-point Stubbe Plate.Because the barb plates are around 10" apart, you will receive approximately 5 inches of bare lead on both ends. I will cut the wire after your order is paid, so your order will ship as one single, continuouspiece containing the exact number of plates you purchase.Each additional quantity adds exactly 1 more historical plate.
