Authentic Phulkari fabric, hand-embroidered in the Punjab region, north of India.
Embroidery all over, very thick and rich, in multicolour silk on cotton base, all yarns have been dyed with natural vegetal colors. Geometrical design of crosses, pyramids, lines and various symbols that alternate in an incredible harmony.
The silk embroidery was made on a base of striped cotton fabric about 50 cm high and then sewn together, at the back of the fabric are visible the seams of the cotton fabric strips.
Embroidery in still very lively in colors, with tones that range from fuxia, to orange, lime green, white, on a cotton canvas base dyed with natural plant dyes in a earthy/dark brick tone.
The phulkaris are ancient fabrics, all hand-embroidered, whose tradition has lost over the years, those made today are completely different machine-made and much less rich, this specimen is unique and very precious. There are imperfections in embroidery and dyeing as it is a handmade product made using a hand loom and natural dyes, any imperfections are part of the charm of the object.
