Aynsley Orchard Gold Demitasse Coffee Cup and Saucer, Signed N. Brunt. Vintage English Bone China with Fruit and Heavy Gold Gilt.

This is a gorgeous Aynsley demitasse cup and saucer in the treasured Orchard Gold pattern, signed by Aynsley artist Nancy Brunt. The cup is wrapped in a lush still life of orchard fruit, with a blushing pear, glossy purple plums, blackberries, and raspberries among green leaves. The saucer continues the scene with plums, rosy gooseberries, blackberries, a ripe apple, and a peach, all set on a warm ground of mossy greens and golden browns.

The gold makes this set special. The cup's interior is fully gilded and glows when light hits it. The saucer has a gilded center well, and both pieces are finished with wavy gold rims, a scrolled gold handle, and a gold foot.

The Orchard Gold pattern was made by printing a fine outline and then finishing it by hand in enamel colors. This gives each piece its depth and painterly look. The signature "N. Brunt" appears in the fruit scene. Nancy Brunt was one of Aynsley's best-known decorators, and collectors seek out her signed pieces.

This set is lovely for after-dinner coffee, displayed in a cabinet, or added to a collection of Aynsley or English fruit china. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a teacup collector.
