This is an alabaster sculpture made by a Navajo (Dine) artist. Mined alabaster is a favorite to work with because of its softness and unique colors. Each of these sculptures are one of a kind. I bought this in Gallup, New Mexico at one of the many shops that line Old Route 66 - Richardson\'s Trading Post is here, among many others.
This sculpture is about 7.5\" tall and 4.25\" at the base and is about 1.75\" at its thickest. The sculpture weighs about 3 pounds, 11 ounces. It is carved on 2 of its four sides.
It could be used as a bookend, paperweight, or a stand alone sculpture. It could also be used as an accent piece to your Anasazi or other native American collection like I did.
