This wonderful 4 panel screen with a gorgeous serene tone, measures, 70.50” Long x 36” High x 1” Deep is from around the mid-20th century Showa period . This Japanese four-panel folding byobu screen was made in the Nihonga school style. The painting features spring bamboo landscape with blossoming flowers and two Japanese song birds resting on a branch. Painted over a gilt silk background with natural ink and color pigments. The painting is set in a black satin wood finished frame, showing some light visible aging, with a silk brocade border. The background has subtle bamboo leaf shadows covering the backdrop of the landscape. There are two quarter size holes on the back of the screen Very good, well-preserved condition given age and use.
