What makes this particular copy especially notable is just how close it came to achieving a BGS Black Label.
Beckett awarded perfect 10 subgrades in every category except Centering, which received a 9.5. Even there, the card was extraordinarily close. The back centering was (very) comfortably within the standards required for a perfect score (around 52/48), while the front missed the necessary perfection threshold by only approximately 0.1 mm from being 50/50 top to bottom, rendering it as 51/49 top to bottom. And it (is) a perfect 50/50 left to right.
That difference is remarkably difficult to perceive with the naked eye and is subtle even when the card is carefully measured. All other aspects of the card were deemed by Beckett to be perfect and I’m actually astonished they even perceived the .1 mm centering differential on the front. For all intents and purposes, this card looks visually perfect to nearly anyone and difficult to notice centering without a measuring capable microscope. I was sincerely tempted to crack the slab and attempt to resubmit, but didn’t want to risk it and chose to keep the card
In practical viewing terms, this is an exceptionally eye-clean card from every angle. The surface, edges, and corners all earned perfect 10s, and even the sole 9.5 centering subgrade represents centering that appears extremely balanced visually.
For collectors who appreciate the distinction between one Pristine 10 and another, this is an unusually attractive example. It is not simply a BGS 10 Pristine. It is a copy that came extraordinarily close to receiving four perfect subgrades, with only a razor-thin centering measurement separating it from Black Label consideration.
