About the Bowl
BLACK WALNUT G+ bowl #15491 made by Smithsonian Artist, David Walsh. It is 7 1/2” by 4 1/2" high at its highest point and is signed, numbered and includes a “CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY.”
His work has been sold at The Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington. National Public commissioned him in 2003 to make 50 Bark-Edged American Walnut bowls from one tree for them to sale at a televised fundraising program for the Arts. The entire process from cutting the tree through the making and finishing of the bowls was filmed and aired on the PBS television channel. A lifelong woodworker, I first started woodturning in 1998 and quickly gained a following as "David Walsh, The Bowlmaker". For international shipping contact the seller.
Walsh has been making wooden bowls for 22 years and has sold over 15,000 signed and numbered bowls ranging in size from miniature at 1.5" in diameter to enormous at 26" diameter. His work has won multiple awards and has been featured and sold in galleries throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and most European countries.

I've seen a lot of local woodwork bowls, but none as beautiful as this. I think it's really interesting how you turn the wood into something almost completely different. It almost looks like marble. I love how the bowls are both rustic but also so posh. It's fine art!
