700years in the future, political dissident Roj Blake rebels against theforces of the totalitarian Terran Federation that rules the Earth andmany colonised planets. The Federation uses mass surveillance,brainwashing and drug pacification to control its citizens. Blakegains control of a technologically advanced alien spacecraft namedLiberator. Liberator\'s speed and weaponry are superior to Federationcraft, and it also has a teleportation system. Blake and his crew(Kerr Avon, Vila Restal, Jenna Stannis, Cally, Del Tarrant, Olag Gan)begin a campaign to damage the Federation, but are pursued by SpaceCommander Travis—a Federation soldier—and Servalan, the SupremeCommander and later Federation President.

WhileBlake is an idealistic freedom fighter, his associates are pettycrooks, smugglers and killers. Kerr Avon is a technological geniuswho becomes a reluctant rebel, agreeing to participate only on thebasis that he will control Liberator once the Federation isdestroyed. Vila Restal is a skilled thief, lock-picker and conjurerand is usually reluctant to risk his life.

TerryNation, inventor of the Daleks, was both creator and primaryscript-writer for Blake\'s Seven.
