Striking late 20th-century handwoven rattan/wicker lidded vessel featuring a substantial rounded form, tightly woven natural-fiber body, solid wooden base, and removable woven lid with a round wooden knob.
The basket has developed an attractive muted brown and natural tan patina that highlights the texture and character of the woven construction. At approximately 15.5 inches tall, it makes a strong decorative statement on a console, bookshelf, side table, mantel, or within a collected interior.
Its sculptural silhouette works especially well with Boho Chic, Chinoiserie and Traditional interiors, as well as eclectic maximalist rooms inspired by the layered decorating associated with Mario Buatta and Tony Duquette.
