Cretaceous Crocodile Tooth
Featured in this listing is a crocodile tooth from the kem kem beds of Morocco. Each purchase is for one tooth which will come boxed and labeled as seen in the photos. The photos depict typical examples.The area in which the Kem Kem beds now lie was home to the iconic spinosaur as well as carchardontosaurus and others.
It was also was rich in crocodile species, including the gigantic mega-crocodile sarchosuchus. These teeth are from some of the smaller species such as:
Elosuchus cherifiensis:
Often called the "Kem Kem mega croc," this species could grow up to 10 meters long and is considered the largest crocodyliform from the region. It had a long, narrow snout and was likely a powerful, aquatic predator.
Aegisu chus witmeri:
A paddle-snouted crocodyliform adapted for a mostly aquatic lifestyle. Its skull had unique features suggesting special sensory adaptations for hunting in water.
Laganosuchus maghrebensis:
Known for its extremely flat, broad snout, this crocodyliform probably used its jaws to scoop up fish and other prey from muddy rebouli:
A peirosaurid crocodyliform with a more traditional, terrestrial lifestyle. Its teeth indicate it was a meat-eater, possibly preying on small dinosaurs or rattoides:
Nicknamed "RatCroc," this was a small, long-legged crocodyliform that lived on land and likely hunted insects and small sigogneaurussellae:
Notable for its multicuspid, mammal-like teeth, suggesting a diet that may have included both meat and plants.
