CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE FLORIDA MONEY LETTER 1861 MAJOR A.B. NOYES For Sale

An Original Civil War Confederate States of America letter from CS Treasury Department Comptroller Lewis Cruger at Richmond, Virginia, October 14, 1861 to A.B. Noyes, (actually Henry B Noyes) at St Marks, Florida requesting a statement of the "public moneys in your hands at the time Florida withdrew from the Union" . Lewis Trezevant Cruger was a notable Charleston, South Carolinian who before the War published a Sketch of the Death and Character of Governor James Hamilton, his half-brother. He served the Confederacy as Confederate Treasury Dept Comptroller to the End of the War. "Henry" was actually Alonzo .B Noyes, the Florida Customs collector and a noted Floridian, who served as a Major in the Confederate Army. The Blockade Runner "A.B. Noyes"" was named for him.
