Very nice Civil War Carte de Viste/cdv photo of Rear Admiral Samuel Francis DuPont. Backmark identifies cdv is from a photographic negative in Brady's National Portrait Gallery/Published by E.H. Anthony N.Y. Admiral DuPont was at sea for decades seemingly everywhere. East Coast, Gulf Coast, California... He was highly regarded as a naval officer. DuPont Circle in Washington D.C. is named after him. He had one blemish on his career for his failure to take Charleston in 1863. He was later exonerated. He is one of the most celebrated naval officers in American history for his years of service at sea and on land.
