An Original Civil War \"Indianapolis Soldier Home\" Pass issued at HQ 94th Company 2nd Battalion, Veteran Reserve Corp, Indianapolis, August 27, 1864 ordering guards and patrols to pass Private Flavius Tavender, 94th Co, Veteran Reserve Corps to his post of duty at Union Depot. The 1p 8 x 5\" ink pass is signed by Lt Otwell and is approved on the reverse by Captain William Burrres , 84th Indiana as as Captain commanding the Soldier Home. Folds, age stains, archival repairs at reverse folds, Overall VG. Comes w service info.Civil War Private Flavius Tavender served 1862-1864 in G Company, 94th Ohio until he was wounded, and on recovery was able to continue service in the Veteran Reserve Corps. Captain William Burres of Farmland, Indiana served 3 years with the 84th Indiana including at Chickamauga where the unit took heave losses. Lt Francis Ottwell of Bloomington, Indiana served in F Company 27th Indiana, was seriously wounded in action at the Battle of Antietam, Maryland, but recovered enough to command men of the Veteran Reserve Corps.
