Chevy Promotional Film 16mm \"Torque Talk\" NASCAR Drivers.
This 16mm film was produced by Chevrolet as part of their Direct Selling Service, and was sent out to dealerships to educate their sales staff, and help in the selling of cars. It was made in 1955, and it\'s all about Torque. The first part is instructive, and relates to torque, and how it works. A good part of the film is showing how the new Chevy stacks up against the 55 Ford and Plymouth. New cars from each of the three companies are put through their paces, racing from a stopped start on level ground, up a slight incline, and then increasing inclines to show that the new Chevy has more torque than the Ford or the Plymouth. For this segment they employ three professional racers from NASCAR. After each test the drivers switch cars, so no one car has an unfair advantage. Someone who knows more about NASCAR will probably be able to tell who these three drivers are, but I can only guess. I believe one of them is Lee Petty, the famous NASCAR driver. In 1955 Petty finished third in points, and went on to be one of the all time greats.
This film shows well, with no breaks or splices. I believe this film has sound, but my projector does not play sound, and I cannot comment on that aspect of the film.
