Collection of authentic antique handwritten manuscript fragments believed to date from the late 1700s to early 1800s.
This group contains surviving portions of early American legal and property-related documents featuring period handwritten text, names, legal terminology, and references consistent with land transfers, inheritance matters, and related transactions. Visible wording includes references such as “quit claim,” “premises,” “heirs,” and “Witness whereof,” along with surnames including Hildreth, Titus, Smith, and Jonathan.
The fragments were found together and are being sold as a single group. While some pieces may be related, I cannot determine whether all fragments originated from the same original document or from multiple period documents. Writing is present on both sides of certain fragments.
These pieces display excellent period penmanship and possess strong visual appeal for collectors of early Americana, colonial-era manuscripts, genealogy, legal history, land records, and historical documents. The surviving text offers research potential while also making for attractive display material.
Condition is consistent with age and long-term storage. The paper exhibits heavy wear including losses, staining, tears, holes, brittleness, edge loss, creasing, and fragmentation.
