Controlled Bubble Worthy Of The Crown Rocks Glasses Set Of 3 Heavy Barware For Sale

These heavy-based rocks glasses, commonly known as bubble bottom or controlled bubble barware, are likely vintage pieces from the mid-to-late 20th century.

Identification and Potential Brands

Glasses with a single large air bubble suspended in a heavy clear base were produced by several notable manufacturers:

• Krosno (Poland): A very common manufacturer for this style. Their 1970s mouth-blown crystal pieces often featured a single suspended bubble and are known for their substantial weight.

• Libbey: Produced the "Nob Hill" pattern which features a bubble in the base. These are frequently found in "Ice Blue" or clear glass.

• Bormioli Rocco (Italy): Produced "controlled bubble" glasses similar to these, often with a slightly different silhouette or multiple smaller bubbles.

Key Features Observed

• Weighted Base: The thick bottom adds stability and a premium feel, with individual glasses often weighing over a pound.

• Controlled Bubble: This is an intentional decorative feature created during the glass-blowing process by trapping a precise amount of air.

• Condition Indicators: Small imperfections like tiny air "seeds" or faint surface scratches (straw marks) are typical for authentic vintage glass and indicate they were likely hand-blown or early machine-pressed.
