A Russian Orthodox cross “The Crucifixion”, made in the Russian Empire in the first half of the 19th century. The cross is cast from copper alloy and decorated with two-color enamel. The front shows Christ on the Cross, with religious inscriptions and decorative details around the figure. Traces of blue and white enamel remain in the background and ornament.
The back of the cross has a cast inscription. The surface shows natural age patina and wear, giving the piece a strong antique character. This type of cast metal cross was used in Russian Orthodox devotional practice and is also collected today as an example of 19th-century Russian religious metalwork.
