Diego Giacometti (1902–1985) was a celebrated Swiss sculptor, furniture designer, and decorative artist best known for his poetic bronze furniture, animal sculptures, and refined modernist creations. He was the younger brother and longtime collaborator of the legendary sculptor Alberto Giacometti. Born in Borgonovo, Switzerland, Diego grew up in a highly artistic family led by painter Giovanni Giacometti.

Diego moved to Paris in the 1920s and eventually became an essential part of Alberto’s studio practice. Although initially known as Alberto’s assistant and model, Diego later emerged as a major artistic force in his own right, developing a unique sculptural style blending Surrealism, classical elegance, and whimsical natural forms. His works often incorporated animals such as owls, horses, lions, dogs, mice, and birds rendered in beautifully textured bronze.

Among his most admired creations are his sculptural tables, lamps, chairs, consoles, and decorative objects produced for elite Parisian interiors and prestigious clients. After Alberto’s death in 1966, Diego gained international recognition for monumental commissions and museum interiors, including projects for the Fondation Maeght, the Musée Picasso in Paris, and the Marc Chagall National Museum in Nice.
