Disney's Tarzan (1999)
signed and illustrated book
first edition, out of print, hardcover in dust jacket, 72 pages, 10.25" x 8.5"
Russell Schroeder's twenty-five-year career as a Disney artist began in 1971 at Walt Disney World. He was a character artist in marketing and later moved to Disney Publishing in California to oversee character art for publications. In the later 1990s he wrote and selected the illustrations for three books for teen-age readers: Walt Disney: His Life in Pictures, Mickey Mouse: My Life in Pictures, and this handsome book on the making of Disney's animated feature based on the Tarzan stories of Edgar Rice Burroughs. It is illustrated throughout in full color and black-and-white with animation art created in production of the film, scenes from the movie, and photographs. A 12-page section is devoted to the life of ERB. The author signed "Best Wishes Russell Schroeder" on the page before the title page and drew a portrait of Tarzan in blue pencil. Our certificate of authenticity is included.
