In 1992, the writers and artists of DC Comics\' flagship line of books decided to shake up the status quo and shockingly kill Superman. To perform the deed, they created the monstrous Doomsday, but the real story started once Superman perished. As other heroes such as Supergirl tried to fill the void, four replacement Supermen came on the scene - Steel, Superboy, The Eradicator, and Cyborg Superman. When Superman returned, he was forced to face off with these characters - one of whom turned villainous - as well as the alien Mongul. This storyline also features Green Lantern Hal Jordan on the path to becoming the evil Parallax.
