Original CDV of Charles Stewart Brooks, 5th Cavalry, U.S. Army. Died of typhoid fever at Fort Monroe, Virginiaon July 7, 1862, 21 years old. Ink inscription including For Mr. Lowther" on the back and studio imprint ofphotographer B.P. Page, Washington, D.C.Brooks was the son of the wealthy New York metal manufacturer William Foreman Brooks, who made parts forlocomotives and firearms. He's buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
CDV is 4" x 2.5" and in excellent antique condition.gettysburg kia 1860s rare
