Now that’s out of the way-this is a really cool Craftsman block plane that I believe would have been an early design based on the Craftsman logo-but I don’t know. All I can tell you is that this is a great little plane and separate of some light surface l rust-this is a great piece of old woodworking equipment. I have disassembled and given a light cleaning to all parts with no sandpaper or paint having been worked on this piece. There is a very small chip as shown in the pictures on the very leading edge of the base.I do not believe this would cause anyone any problems in using this plane.
In some Evaporust or other treatment-the bare steel would clean up nicely and likely there would be no putting whatsoever.
