It was used by the air force communication units. The timer allows the MZG2 Morse code transmitter to be activated at a fixed time every hour. The timer is equipped with special contacts that open and close toothed cams and thus switch the MZG2 motor on and off. A frame with springs holds the timer case, the front cover has an adjustment pin, under the screw in the base there is a triangular socket for opening the case and operating the controls: \"Ablaufen\" (run) sets the hours, \"Stop\" stops the balance, which is then restarted with \"Start\". The large spring provides an 8-day power reserve. The movement has an index spring and controls the hands in 15-second increments. The winding key is included in this offer. The timer is illustrated and described in the book Militaruhren (Military Timepieces) by Konrad Knirim, p. 390f.This particular timer, serial number 448, was used during the German occupation from the year 1938 to 1945 in the territory of the former Czechoslovakia at the Prague - Ruzyne Airport (Vaclav Havel Airport). The device was used by Czechoslovak Airlines for several years after the war. It has been preserved in a unique functional condition because it was displayed in the office of the Director of Air Traffic Control for more than 50 years.Only about 1,000 pieces were produced in Germany and then about 2,000 pieces in unlicensed, post-war production in the Soviet Union.The timer works like a regular table clock, so it can be used as a novel, functional decoration.
