Roosevelt handsome, undated, vintage matte-finish autographed silver gelatin print circa 1933 inscribed AS PRESIDENT, \"For American Legion Post - Winnetka, Ill. Franklin D. Roosevelt\". The Harris & Ewing portrait in a framed vintage display depicts a seated FDR at his desk in the White House.
One can imagine this image hanging in a prominent location in the Winnetka American Legion Hall, visible to all veterans and their guests. It was FDR\'s cousin, President Theodore Roosevelt who played a prominent role as a co-founder of the American Legion. FDR\'s relationship to the Legion was more complicated, marked by his membership – but also by intense political clashing during the Great Depression, and later monumental collaboration during World War II.
FDR served as the 44th Governor of New York before his election to the Presidency in 1933. He is the longest serving US President, and the only one to have served more than two terms, spanning the Great Depression and World War II.
