First National Bank Metropolis IL Book Savings Bank No Key Metal Leather 3.5\" For Sale

First National Bank Metropolis IL Book Savings Bank No Key Metal Leather 5.25\"

This is an advertising bank for \"First National Bank Metropolis\" (Illinois) that measures 3.5\" x 2 3/8\" x 1/2\". This metal bank is covered in red leather with gold lettering and is made to look like a book on your shelf. There is no key to open. These banks were opened at the bank where they held the key. This kept you from taking the savings out early! The front of the book features gold lettering with names of the principles of the bank. The bank is in Southern Illinois. Metropolis is \"The Home of Superman\". The maker is probably \"Banker Utilities Co. San Francisco, USA\" as I have had several from this bank thru the years from this company, but it is not marked by a maker. There is a slot on one side to put the coins. There is a slot for the key as well. I have not opened and no rattle so I think it\'s empty. My photos are of the actual item you are getting. See my store for other interesting Metropolis book bank and other banks.
