This 1942 lithograph reproduction of the United States Declaration of Independence was produced by the Theodore Ohman Lithograph Company of Memphis, TN.
Theodore Ohman was a master Czech-American lithographer famous for creating what is widely considered the most realistic replica of the Declaration ever produced. He utilized a rare 1823 William Stone engraving to capture the exact handwriting and signatures of the founders. He then combined it with the last photograph taken of the Declaration of Independence before it was permanently sealed in the National Archives in 1903 to realistically recreate the exact cracks, creases and aged parchment texture of the original document. The Ohman lithograph is in the collections of the National Archives, Library of Congress and Independence Hall.
This document is in excellent condition. A number of these lithographs were found in Ohman\'s studio. They were sold to interested buyers. This one is numbered 1013/1250 (written on the bottom right corner) and was mailed rolled up in a document container. This lithograph has been professionally framed and under glass since we received it more than 20 years ago. The frame measures 33.5\" by 27.75.\"
This lithograph has been framed by professionals and preserved under glass. Shipping it is a risk as the glass can shatter and destroy the lithograph. It is also heavy and large. Removing the glass would expose the document to the elements. It would no longer be in pristine condition should that be done. Therefore, we prefer PICK-UP ONLY.
