The sculptor of the Hummel figurine, "Stormy Weather" (#71), was Reinhold Unger. He based the design on a drawing by M.I. Lovely Post WWII Goebel W. Germany I.M. Hummel Figurine entitled "STORMY WEATHER" (figurine number 71) with a TMK-3 mark is a collectible porcelain figurine by Hummel, featuring children sheltering from the rain under a wide umbrella. The TMK-3 mark, also known as the Stylized Bee Mark, indicates that the figurine was produced between 1960 and 1972, specifically from the Goebel factory in W Germany. Impressed on bottom is #71; Stylized V Beemark "W. Germany". Hummel TMK-3 figurines were manufactured between 1960 and 1972. The TMK-3 mark, sometimes called the Stylized Bee, was used to identify figurines produced during this period. Signature M.I. In the mid 1930s, the beautiful lifelike artworks of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel made their debut on post cards throughout Switzerland and Germany. These images of rosy cheeked children in natural settings caught the attention of Franz Goebel. Franz was the head director of the W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik porcelain company. He negotiated an agreement by and between the porcelain factory and Sister Hummel to craft figurines based upon the Sister's subject matter in her drawings. Goebel showcased his figurines at the Leipzig Trade Fair, where the beautiful figurines were well received by all. However the popularity of the artforms were short lived with the commencement of World War II. Franz once again commenced production of the beloved figurines once the War ended and they became especially welcomed by the American Soldiers stationed in W. Germany. The soldiers purchased them as a memento and as gifts to send to their family members abroad. These historic figurines have graced many mantles in the past and present and continue to be coveted by collectors to the present day.

The heirloom measures circa 7 inches high and 6 inches long x 3 3/4" Deep [measured basket to lower base]. This rare old Hummel is in excellent condition. It has no chips, nicks, repairs, major fading or loss of paint; does have some minimal age crazing on top of the base that is not evident to the naked eye. Crazing occurs as pottery ages. Hummel figurines were first produced in 1935, as they have aged, some have developed some fine spidery crazing in the glazed surface. Crazing is often subtle, an authentication of their age and history and the pieces are still beautiful. This lovely is a well cared for family heirloom.
