George Washington 1st President of the United States Lithograph D W Kellogg For Sale

George Washington 1st President of the United States Lithograph in Frame D W Kellogg & Co1830-1840Here is a nice rendering of George Washington for your buying consideration. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself!

This item is from the estate of Tom & Mary Legore of Finksburg, MD. There were local Civil War Historians and Collectors. They also collaborated with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and another author with local history for one of Newt\'s Civil War books.

This fine Lithograph is being offered to you at a price below what you would see in a high end sale house or art gallery, as we have been selling artwork out of our home for over 35 years. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don\'t have the overhead that the higher end houses and art galleries experience.

We will be posting a number of other Civil War items that we acquired from this couple over the next few weeks, so keep looking to our online store here as they will be offered for sale separately. Some of the items are a large case of bullets and other artifacts from the Pickett\'s Charge area, original Currier & Ives lithographs, signed prints and books, Pie Smelling and Buying Story of a Confederate prisoner, artifacts from the Soldiers Home, Sycamore sight tree in Gettysburg, etc.

Beautifully done image of George Washington here. Done by D W Kellogg & Co of Hartford CTin 1830-1840. What makes this lithograph unique is that the curtain behind him is done in red. Take a look out there and you will see what is available or has been sold is with a blue drapery, which is a newer version done by DW\'s Kellogg\'s relatives. Nice coloring and details to the piece.
There is a watermark on the left side of the lithograph. Goes over the black lines around the image onto the left side of the image. Some minor brown spotting in places. No tears or repairs to the lithograph that we observe. A spot under Washington\'s left eye. Not sure if on paper or a fleck of dirt between glass and the lithograph.
The Antique Lithograph of President George Washington is 17-5/8\" tall, by 15-5/8\" across, by 7/8\" wide. The lithograph showing within the frame is 13.5\" tall, by 11.5\" across. The wire hanging wire is still on the frame.
Nice older wood frame with a mahogany veneer. Great wafering of the corners of the frame with other wood pieces. The veneer is cracked along the bottom piece of the frame, mostly still there. Glass is intact over the lithograph.
