A self-taught bronze sculptor and oil painter, born in the Highlands of Cape Breton Island, Lorne grew up with a sincere admiration for the artistic talents of my grandfather, Dan O\'Callaghan. While still a youth, he moved to California where he made a living creating cartoons and illustrations for major studios, and selling work as a freelance artist.
In 1967, Lorne moved to Calgary, Alberta, where he continued oil painting. It was in the early 70\'s that he became intrigued with creating bronze sculpturing. After several years of researching and studying various techniques, he produced his first bronze \"Bull Elk\". The quality of artisanship and attention to detail and its success on the market, clearly indicated that Lorne had found his niche. In the years to come, he attended many art shows and was juried into the Calgary Stampede Art Show for over 20 years.
During his career, he has completed 108 limited edition bronzes. His bronzes of whales can be found in 65 countries around the world. Currently living in Nova Scotia, he continues to sculpt and has renewed his love of painting in oils.
