The Douglas DC-4 is an American four piston engine, propeller driven airliner. The first flight of the DC-4 was on 14 February 1942. About two months after the end of World War Two in Europe, Overseas Airlines introduced the first commercial North Atlantic DC-4 service. During the late 1940's and 1950's, the DC-4 and converted C-54 (the military version), carried more passengers than any other four engine transport. There are numerous examples that are still operating today, more than 70 years after its introduction.
This reproduction of the Thunderbirds Douglas C-54E, with registration 0-272674 aircraft, was manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company and delivered to the Army Air Corps in March of 1945. It became part of the United States Air Force Thunderbirds flight demonstration team, as their support aircraft from 1959 to 1962. The aircraft was based out of Nellis Air Force Base near Las Vegas, Nevada, hence the aircraft name: "City of Las Vegas". In its support role it carried maintenance personnel, spare parts and other equipment to support the North American F-100 Super Sabre that was used at the time, to perform at airshows around the world.

I could not locate another one like it anywhere on an Internet search, making it almost one-of-a-kind. It will make an exceptional addition to any USAF Thunderbird collector, any historic Douglas DC-4/C-54 collector, or any aviationenthusiast's collection.
