Original 1796 Pay Order & Cut Signature of Revolutionary War General Horatio Gates

Offered is an authentic cut signature of Major General Horatio Gates, accompanied by the original 1796 manuscript financial document from which it was clipped by an early autograph collector.
Historical Significance:
Horatio Gates (1727–1806) was a highly influential American commander during the Revolutionary War, famously credited with the turning-point victory at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777. The accompanying peacetime financial document, dated April 1, 1796, is a handwritten order for Mr. Avery Tracy to pay the bearer fourteen pence on the account of Thomas Williams. The back features contemporary docketing reading "Williams / Acpt. 1st 1796."
Condition & Details:
The pieces show age-appropriate toning, minor staining, and old fold lines. The Horatio Gates signature is written in a bold, clear hand. A small fragment of paper was lost between the main document and the signature slip when it was originally excised, meaning the two edges do not perfectly interlock, but they are clearly from the same original sheet.
