An out-of-this-world crew/studio promotional pen from Independence Day (1996), the blockbuster sci-fi hit starring Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum.
This silver-bodied pen features bold "INDEPENDENCE DAY / ID4" branding and an integrated stylus/light-tip novelty mechanism, typical of high-end executive promo gifts from the era. This was an internal 20th Century Fox studio/crew item, never sold at retail. Sold as-is: the light function is non-working, and there is visible corrosion at the tip consistent with battery age (see photos for exact condition) - also scratching at the base. Piece is sold as-is.
I worked at Fox archiving the wardrobe, props and aliens and took the archive to Japan as a display for the films Japanese release. I was given this as an executive gift. When I got it I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. It would light up so you could write in the dark. I used it and put it away. Ink is dry and there's corrosion and a bit of bending in that area. Let's hope someone knows how to fix this beauty, because it truly was about as cool as a pen could get!
Give this baby a new home and the TLC it deserves and she'll shine in (and on) your ID4 collection!
Enjoy!
