KLM is the name of the airline. It stands for Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij, which translates to Royal Dutch Airlines. It is the national airline of the Netherlands and was founded in 1919. KLM began giving these miniature houses to First Class passengers in 1952. The houses represent traditional Dutch architecture. The early houses were associated with Simon Rynbende & Sons, a Dutch distillery. They became highly collectible pieces of airline memorabilia.
