Large black obsidian blade from Oregon. This impressive piece measures approximately 7 inches in length and features beautiful conchoidal fracture surfaces characteristic of knapped volcanic glass. The blade has a classic leaf or lanceolate shape, bifacially worked with sharp flaked edges running to a pointed tip. The obsidian is deep black with a highly lustrous, glassy sheen showing silvery-white light reflections across the flake scars. A small patch of natural brown cortex matrix is visible at the base end, consistent with the natural outer rind of raw obsidian nodules.
