An authentic matching pair of vintage Ugo Zaccagnini Italian porcelain lidded urns. Made in Florence, Italy, during the mid-20th century, these exquisite pieces feature a striking Neoclassical/Hollywood Regency design style.
The urns feature a rich oxblood/Pompeian red body contrasted by a white base and lid. Each urn features a central, hand-painted oval medallion depicting a classical Roman or Greek profile bust (one male with a laurel wreath, one female with a tiara), framed by elegant raised gold beaded borders and gilded acanthus leaf detailing at the base.
Authenticity & Markings
Both urns are fully signed and authenticated on the bottom. The undersides include:
· The official hand-painted Zaccagnini monogram (the wavy "Z" mark with a horizontal line)
· Hand-written "Italy" origin mark
· Model/Pattern numbers: 1496 / 661 R
· Koscherak Brothers importers: K.B. / N.Y. (Koscherak Brothers imported Murano glass and Italian pottery from the 1950s until the late 70s and had a showroom at 225 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY.)
Condition Report:
These are vintage items, and as such, age and surface wear and glaze irregularities are a normal part of their condition. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description.
· Bodies & Rims: The main bodies, pedestal bases, rims, and cameos are in very good vintage condition with no cracks or structural repairs.
· Lids: There are a couple of flea bites on the inside of the rim and may be other small marks throughout.
