Please read carefully — these are vintage magazines approximately 76–77 years old and are being sold in AS-IS vintage condition.
Overall condition ranges from Fair to Good, with varying degrees of wear.
November 1949: Cover is completely split at the spine.
January 1950: Cover has a nearly full-length split at the spine.
Several of the other magazines have smaller splits or separation beginning at the spine.
A few issues have minor water staining.
Normal age-related yellowing/discoloration of paper.
General edge and cover wear consistent with their age and storage.
Some creasing and handling wear may be present.
Please examine all photos carefully for the condition of the covers.
Despite the condition issues, these are original period publications, not modern reproductions, and make an interesting group for someone interested in the early history of hot rodding.
HISTORICAL CONTENT
These issues come from an especially interesting period in automotive history, when HOT ROD was documenting the rapidly developing hot-rodding scene, early drag racing, Bonneville speed records, custom cars, engine modifications and performance experimentation.
The September 1950 issue, for example, features “Northern California Revs Up,” “Ford 4-Barrel Speed Secrets,” and a “160 MPH Rear-Engine Roadster.”
The November 1949 issue features Jack Calori's famous custom Ford, making that particular issue especially interesting to collectors of early custom-car history.
