This expanded collection of 20 vintage postcards documents the architectural, civic, commercial, and industrial history of Wilkes-Barre and Kingston, Pennsylvania. Spanning from 1905 to the late 1940s, this cohesive lot offers a rich cross-section of the Wyoming Valley’s past, featuring bustling streetscapes, historic churches, public libraries, and a rare industrial coal breaker view.

  1. South River Street, Wilkes-Barre – Early color view with horse-drawn carriages. Postmarked 1908 from Syracuse, NY with a 1¢ Benjamin Franklin stamp.
  2. Public Square, Showing West Market Street, Wilkes-Barre – Clean, unused Linen era card (WB-19) published by The Mebane Card Co.
  3. North Franklin Street showing Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre – Early black & white Albertype view card. Unposted.
  4. North River St. from Union, Wilkes-Barre – Color view with a lady walking. Postmarked 1912 with a 1¢ George Washington stamp. Interesting message detailing a shopping trip for a hat feather.
  5. Y.M.C.A. Building, Wilkes-Barre – Unused Linen card (WB-20) showcasing bold red brick architecture. Published by Mebane Card Co.
  6. Mallinckrodt Convent, Wilkes-Barre – Unused early color card showing the large estate grounds. Published by Sabold-Herb Co.
  7. Blue Ribbon Cake Company, Kingston – Unique unused Linen commercial/industrial advertising postcard (K-4) showcasing "the finest cake kitchens of America". Published by Mebane.
  8. Osterhout Library, Wilkes-Barre – Beautiful Litho-Chrome card printed in Germany. Postmarked 1908 at the Kingston Station branch with a message from "Uncle Nate".
  9. Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, Kingston – Unused Linen card (K9) featuring a sweeping aerial view of the hospital campus.
  10. Hollenback Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre – Unused early color card highlighting the prominent Gothic revival style gatehouse entry. Printed in Germany by Souvenir Post Card Co.
  1. Overlooking Public Square from Wilkes-Barre Deposit & Savings Bank Building – High-angle aerial view of the town center. Postmarked 1943 with a crisp Wilkes-Barre stamp.
  2. Skyline From Kirby Park & Market Street Bridge – Vibrant Linen view over the Susquehanna River featuring the historic Sterling Hotel. Postmarked 1947 with a "Save the Easy Way / Buy U.S. Bonds" slogan cancel.
  3. Central M.E. Church – A beautiful, early black-and-white Albertype view card. Postmarked February 8, 1905, making it the earliest piece in the collection.
  4. St. Mary's Church and Rectory – Unused Linen card with crisp borders, published by the Wilkes-Barre News Agency.
  5. Memorial Presbyterian Church and Manse – Early Divided Back color view printed in Germany for Jonas Long's Sons department store. Unused.
  6. Old Court House, Wilkes-Barre – Historic early view with citizens gathered in the yard. Postmarked 1908 in Allentown, PA.
  7. Old Ladies Home, Wilkes-Barre – Early color lithograph published by local five-and-dime pioneer F.M. Kirby & Co. Postmarked 1912.
  8. Hoyt Library, Kingston – Clean, unused Linen era postcard detailing the grand classical architecture.
  9. South Main Street from Public Square – A standout commercial street scene packed with period detail, featuring vintage cars, street clocks, and prominent storefronts for Woolworth's and the Boston Store. Unused Linen.
  10. Coal Breaker, Wilkes-Barre – A fantastic, historically significant industrial view card showcasing an active anthracite coal processing facility. Postmarked 1909 via the Susquehanna R.P.O. (Railway Post Office).
