Up for sale is a charming lot of three (3) authentic antique postcards from the early 20th century. This group offers a great mix of holiday greetings, artistic illustration, and historical postal history, featuring native Swedish correspondence and early postage stamps.
Included in this Lot:
1. \"The Smell\" Monk Art Card: A beautiful black-and-white art postcard depicting an elderly monk carefully smelling a potted plant. The card features printed multi-language captions at the bottom (L\'odorat / Der Geruch / The smell).
• Reverse: Sent to Fröken Edith Gyllström in Hudiksvall. Features a clear Stockholm 1907 postmark and a green Oscar II era Swedish stamp.
2. Embossed \"Best Easter Wishes\" Card: A vibrant, heavily embossed holiday card featuring a cross adorned with pink roses, Easter eggs, a fluffy yellow chick, and lilies at the base.
• Reverse: Addressed to Herr August Lindgren in Sweden. Uniquely features two overlapping green 1-Cent US Benjamin Franklin stamps, likely mailed internationally or forwarded.
3. Winter Bird Scene: A lovely, subtle card featuring a colorful songbird perched above a snow-covered village landscape. The card has a highly textured, vertical ribbed embossing.
• Reverse: Features extensive vintage cursive handwriting in black ink addressed to Fröken Karin Lindroth in Stockholm. Includes a green Oscar II Swedish stamp and a Stockholm postmark.
Condition Notes:
All three cards are in good antique condition. They exhibit minor corner rounding, light edge bumping, and typical age-toning on the back consistent with paper that is over 115 years old. The colors on the Easter card remain remarkably bright. Please examine the high-resolution front and back photos to inspect the stamps, ink text, and corner conditions.
Shipping & Handling:
The postcards will be packed with care in individual protective archival sleeves and shipped inside a rigid mailer to prevent any bending or creasing during transit.
