I own a specialty advertising company, now in our 47th year in business. For much of that time as well for many years prior to establishing my own company, what was formerly \"The Bell System\" was our best account - mostly Southern Bell, Western Electric & AT&T. After divestiture and it was broken up, we continued doing business with AT&T, BellSouth, OFS, Lucent Technologies, Avaya, etc.Over the years I collected a great deal of items with all of the above logos / many one-of-a-kind samples. We are now semi-retired and selling some of our collection.
Lucent was an excellent customer, and we were fortunate to provide a diversity of merchandise to them. Writing instruments were a popular item, and here are four examples of over-run samples from orders we sold Lucent in the early 2000\'s.
A. The first gift is a nice two piece set of pen and mechanical pencil. The set is in a handsome black & gold motif with the Lucent Technologies logo in gold to match the trim. The pen is a roller ball and came supplied with the refill from Germany. The set is nicely gift packaged in a two piece box with gold bottom to accentuates the design. Of course if used rather than displayed, a new refill is needed - true for all four examples.
B. The red 7 black pen with Lucent logo in grey has a rubberized feel for smooth writing.
C. The style in pebbled grey with red 7 black trim features the logo in black as shown.
D. The clear pen is attractive and in addition to the Lucent Technologies logo, carries the logo for Anixter, one of their distributors. We often used co-op advertising funds for Lucent distributors. Based on sales, Lucent would pay for part or all of many advertising items. the gifts had to carry both logos, and be approved by Lucent.
Although somewhat old, these nice over-run samples have been kept in a sealed container in one of our climate controlled sample rooms.
